Sonoma County has been named 2019 Wine Region of the Year by Wine Enthusiast, for the magazine’s twentieth yearly Wine Star Awards.

Every year, editors of the production honor the destination, individuals and companies that have made outstanding achievements in the wine and beverage world, and keep on implementing innovative, inviting and sustainable practices and initiatives.

Sonoma County is one of the most diverse and progressive winegrowing regions in the world,” said Adam Strum, Chairman and Publisher of Wine Enthusiast. “From powerhouse varieties like Chardonnay and Pinot Noir that produce popular bottlings of noticeable quality to classic California wines produced using Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel and more, Sonoma County is prestigious for creating amazing wines of distinction. The district is also a standard-bearer for best practices past just wine production, as a champion of genuine sustainability.”

The accolade recognizes the area for the prominent wine-focused programs that Sonoma County Vintners produces to improve the wine industry. These incorporate the Sonoma County Wine Auction, one of the nation’s top beneficent wine auctions. This yearly occasion has raised more than $30 million since its commencement to support those deprived in Sonoma County. Taste of Sonoma, the yearly head wine and food festival, spotlights Sonoma County’s prestigious vintners and chefs.
